Three years later the musicians issued another studio work titled Dizzy Up The Girl (1998), which proved to be even more successful than its predecessor: it got the Triple Platinum status. The trios following album A Boy Named Goo (1995) turned out to be extremely strong and it was certified Double Platinum. That studio attempt got wonderful reviews from the critics and the band was gaining popularity. Goo Goo Dolls discography was enlarged by Superstar Car Wash in 1993. The bands third album Hold Me Up was released in 1990 and that time John performed the lead vocals, becoming the constant lead singer.Īlso the sound was changed, because Goo Goo Dolls managed to combine such distant styles as heavy metal, pop rock and punk rock in a very successful way. In first long play the bassist Robby Takac was the lead vocalist however in Jed two songs were sung by John Rzeznik. It was critically acclaimed and the listeners enjoyed both the trios original compositions and the cover-versions of Sunshine Of Your Love by the British rock band Cream and the famous Blue Oyster Cults (Dont Fear) The Reaper. The debut self-titled studio work Goo Goo Dolls was released in 1987.
